It's the last day of 2019, when this owner returned to his parked car, he was shocked to find out that his car was badly damaged on the right bumper! There's no note left and it's definitely a hit and run.
Fortunately, the driver had installed a BlackVue DR590W-2CH dash cam with parking mode. He found the video footage how the whole incident happened. The vehicle number plate of the culprit was recorded clearly hence the police report could be submitted easily.
We wish him all the best for recovering the damage claim from the insurance company.
Misconception: Some motorists feel that hitting a parked vehicle is a small matter and that they will not be liable after leaving the scene without providing any particulars.
Fact: When a driver collides with a stationary or unmanned/parked vehicle and leaves the accident scene, the driver has committed an offence of “Hit-and-Run”. Drivers should leave their particulars such as their names, contact numbers, vehicle number and time & date of accident so that owners of the parked vehicles can contact them. Even if an accident report is lodged within 24 hours without the at-fault driver providing particulars to the owner of the parked vehicle, the at fault driver will still have committed an offence of “hit-and-run” .
Anyway, do not take the chances, get your BlackVue dashcam now from here. It comes with buffered event recording which records 5 seconds before and 55 seconds after an event is triggered by motion or impact detection.
