[Tutorial] How to Remove and Insert a microSD Card in Your BlackVue DR590X Dashcam

Your BlackVue DR590X dashcam relies on a properly working microSD card to record important footage. In this post, we’ll show you how to easily remove and insert the microSD card, and share some tips on keeping it working smoothly. Be sure to watch the video tutorial below for a step-by-step guide!

Why the Right microSD Card Matters?

Using a compatible microSD card is essential for the best performance and stability of your BlackVue dashcam. Third-party cards, even well-known brands, may cause the dashcam to restart randomly or fail to record key moments.
For a list of recommended microSD cards, check out this link. Remember, a microSD card is a consumable item that will eventually wear out, especially when used in a dashcam. It’s a good idea to to format the card regularly and replace it when your dashcam reports errors related to the card.

​How to Remove and Insert the microSD Card?

1. Turn Off the Dashcam
Always power off the dashcam before removing or inserting the microSD card to prevent data loss.

2. Access the microSD Card Slot
Gently lift the side cover of the dashcam to access the card. The cover stays attached, so it won’t come off.

3. Remove the microSD Card
Press the card inward until it pops out, then pull it out carefully.

4. Insert the microSD Card
When putting the card back, make sure the gold contacts face the rear. Press it in until it clicks into place.

5. Close the Side Cover
Lower the cover back to protect the card.

​Although your BlackVue dashcam automatically overwrites old footage when the card is full, regular formatting is still essential. Over time, the constant writing and rewriting of data can lead to fragmented files or corruption. Formatting helps:

• Clear unnecessary or hidden data: Even though the dashcam overwrites files, some hidden or corrupt files may remain, which can affect performance.
• Improve recording stability: A freshly formatted card provides a clean slate, reducing the chances of errors or missed footage.
• Extend the life of the card: Regular formatting can help maintain the health of the microSD card, ensuring it performs reliably for longer.

To keep your dashcam working smoothly, we recommend formatting the card occasionally—especially if the dashcam starts showing card errors. If the problem persists, please replace with a new and compatible microSD card.
